Pianist Anthony Tobin
Anton Nel, Priscilla Pond Flawn Regents Professor of Piano at the University of Texas at Austin and I performed for 30 patrons of the Austin Lyric Opera in the gracious home of Dain and Ladonna Higdon.
In addition to solo playing, Anton and I performed three of the Brahms Hungarian Dances for piano four-hands. Victor Geiger of Steinway was master of ceremonies, and Steve Bird of Steinway Piano Gallery of Austin presented Kate Higdon with a book about the history of Steinway.
We all enjoyed a fine dinner after the program. Among the guests were Alfred and Ellen King, The Nassour's of the Cadeau giftshop, and Sylvia and Charles Zeller, parents of my student Sophie Zeller.
