Lessons cancelled for illness or emergency can be made up at my studio only. Lessons cancelled for any other reason will not be rescheduled or credited. Lessons I must cancel will be made up at a mutually convenient time. There are no refunds. Since I have a liberal summer policy it is expected that all lessons during the school year will be attended and paid. This ensures progress for each student and that I can fully commit to the students I accept. Payment is monthly in advance at the first lesson of each month. The importance of regular practice cannot be over-emphasized. Playing the piano involves reading, listening, thinking, and fine-motor coordination. All of these take time to develop and require daily practice. The student will progress and enjoy lessons more with regular practice. I am happy to consult with you about purchasing an appropriate instrument for practice. A decent instrument with good sound enables a pianist to imagine and realize musical possiblities and greatly enhances progress and enjoyment. I encourage all my students to participate in the regular recitals I sponsor and for my advanced students to perform as guest soloists at Asbury Methodist Church, where I am Music Director. Attendance at local classical music performances is also very important and beneficial for piano students. An inspiring concert instills musical values and helps the student and parents to understand and appreciate classical music. The Austin Symphony, The University of Texas School of Music and Austin Lyric Opera all offer concerts throught the year. |
